About SolTrekker
We started in 2008 as a small, bright-eyed group of (mostly) twenty-something friends who thought it would be fun to create an "eco-friendly" RV in order to explore the concept of sustainability with kids, schools and communities in Oregon - primarily through free, mobile renewable energy education programming.
Now we're a small group of haggard, (mostly) middle-aged friends who have seen some things, and we're way too tired to be constantly driving around everywhere no matter what we're using for fuel or electricity.
What hasn't changed over the years, though, is our belief in having fun, hands-on education and community connection, in addition to the importance of rooting all action in the foundational truth that all humans have a non-severable connection to each other and to all the flora/fauna and earth systems that sustain us.
And so, while we still value the tools of renewable energy technology in helping to mitigate environmental impact and in creating more resilient communities, we have learned that connection is at the heart of all resilience and sustainability. We believe that the more people feel connected to themselves, each other and the wild world around them, the brighter their collective future becomes. And in today's increasingly online world, we think one of the best ways to foster those connections is to get people (especially young people) outside. We hope you'll come join us!
